Why the 50 KB signature minimum is the hard part

A signature is mostly white space, so JPEG compresses it far below 50 KB — most candidates end up with a 10–20 KB file that the portal rejects for being too small. This is the opposite problem from most exams, where staying under the cap is the challenge.

To reach 50 KB: scan the signature at 200 DPI or higher, keep more of the surrounding white paper in the crop rather than cropping tight, and save at higher quality. The tool above pads up to the range where the source resolution allows, and warns you when the original scan is too low-resolution to reach 50 KB — in which case you need to rescan, not recompress.

Top reasons NEET PG images get rejected

Signature under 50 KB. The most common issue — the file compresses too small. Rescan at higher resolution.

File over 80 KB. Photo, signature, or thumb impression above 80 KB is rejected. The tool above fixes this automatically.

Wrong format. Only JPG/JPEG is accepted. PNG and PDF fail.

Signature and thumb combined. These must be uploaded as separate images, never together in one file.

Photo background not white. NBEMS requires a plain white background with about 75% coverage of the face and head.

How to resize your photo & signature for NEET PG

  1. On this page, NEET PG is already selected. Choose Photo or Signature.
  2. Upload your image and crop it — the photo to passport size, the signature tight but with enough white paper to keep the file above 50 KB.
  3. Click Resize & compress — the tool outputs a JPG under 80 KB for the photo, and inside the 50–80 KB range for the signature.
  4. Upload signature and thumb impression as separate files. Then submit at the NBEMS NEET PG portal (natboard.edu.in).

NEET PG photo & signature — FAQ

What is the signature size for NEET PG 2026?

The NEET PG signature must be in JPG/JPEG format, between 50 KB and 80 KB, signed in running hand with black or blue ink on white paper. Many candidates struggle to reach the 50 KB minimum because a signature is mostly white space and compresses very small — scan at a higher resolution and crop less tightly to keep the file above 50 KB.

What is the photo size for NEET PG 2026?

The NEET PG photograph must be a recent passport-size colour photo, under 80 KB, in JPG/JPEG format, on a plain white background, with at least 75% coverage of the face and head.

Is NEET PG different from NEET UG for photo uploads?

Yes. NEET PG is conducted by NBEMS (National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences), not NTA. The specifications are different: NEET PG caps the photo and signature at 80 KB and needs the signature between 50 and 80 KB, whereas NEET UG allows a photo up to 200 KB and a signature down to 10 KB.

Why does my NEET PG signature keep coming out under 50 KB?

A signature on white paper has very little detail, so JPEG compresses it far below 50 KB. To reach the 50 KB minimum, scan the signature at a higher resolution (200 DPI or more), keep more of the surrounding white paper in the crop, or save at higher quality. The tool on this page fills to the range where possible and warns you when the source is too low-resolution to reach 50 KB.

What format does NEET PG accept?

Only JPG/JPEG is accepted for the photograph, signature, and thumb impression. PNG, PDF, and other formats are rejected by the NBEMS portal.

Do I upload signature and thumb impression together?

No. NBEMS requires the signature and the left-hand thumb impression to be uploaded as separate images. Do not combine them into one file.

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your photo and signature never leave your device, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.
