Compress Image to Exact KB
Reduce your image to an exact file size — 10 KB, 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, or a custom target — for exam forms, passport uploads, and any portal with a size limit. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
How to compress an image to a target KB
- Upload your image (JPG, PNG, or WebP).
- Choose a target size — 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 KB, or type a custom value.
- Click Compress. The tool shrinks the file to fit under your target.
- Download the compressed JPG, ready to upload to your form.
Compress Image — FAQ
How do I compress an image to 20 KB?
Upload your image, tap the 20 KB button (or type a custom target), then click Compress. The tool lowers the JPEG quality — and if needed, gently reduces the dimensions — until the file fits under 20 KB, then gives you a JPG to download.
Does compressing reduce photo quality?
Some quality is traded for a smaller file, but the tool keeps the highest quality that still fits your target size. For form and exam uploads, targets like 50 KB or 100 KB stay clear and readable.
Can I use this to compress a photo for SSC, UPSC or bank exam forms?
Yes. Indian exam portals usually cap photos at 20–50 KB and signatures at 10–20 KB. Pick the matching preset here. For exact per-exam dimensions and specs, see our exam photo guides.
What image formats can I compress?
You can upload JPG, PNG, or WebP. The output is a compressed JPG, which is the format most upload forms accept. iPhone HEIC files aren't supported here yet — convert them to JPG first.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your image never leaves your device, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.
