Crop Image — FAQ

How do I crop an image to a square?

Upload your image, tap the 1:1 button, then drag and zoom until the part you want is inside the box. Click Crop and download the result — it comes out perfectly square.

Can I crop to any shape I want?

Yes. Tap Free and you can drag the crop box to any shape and size. If you need a fixed shape instead, pick one of the ratio buttons — 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, or 9:16 — and the box locks to it.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No. Cropping removes the parts of the image outside the box; the pixels you keep stay at their original resolution. The file gets smaller simply because there are fewer pixels in it.

What image formats can I crop?

JPG, PNG, and WebP. The output keeps your original format, so a transparent PNG stays transparent. iPhone HEIC files aren't supported here yet — convert them to JPG first.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your image never leaves your device, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Cropping a photo for an exam form?

Exam portals need an exact pixel size and file size, not just a crop. The exam photo guides lock the crop box to the right shape for SSC, UPSC, IBPS, NEET and JEE, and hit the required KB automatically.
