Two ways to split
Extract pages is for when you need part of a document — pages 3 to 7 of a report, or just the signature page of a contract. Name the pages and they come out as one new PDF, in the order you list them.
Split every page turns a single multi-page PDF into one file per page. Useful when each page is really a separate document — a batch of scanned receipts, certificates or invoices that were scanned into one file by mistake.
Why split in the browser matters
Most free split tools upload your PDF to a server, do the work there, and send the pieces back. For the documents people actually split — contracts, bank statements, medical records, legal filings — that means handing private files to a company you know nothing about.
This tool reads your PDF into your browser's memory, splits it there, and hands back the result. Nothing is transmitted. You can watch the Network tab in your browser's developer tools and confirm no upload happens.

How do I split a PDF?

How do I extract only certain pages?
Pick 'Extract pages' and type the pages you want. Use a dash for a range and commas to combine: 1-3, 5, 8-10 gives you pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 in one PDF, in the order you list them. Reorder as you go — 5, 1 puts page 5 first.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The split happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device, which matters for contracts, statements, medical records and anything else you would not want on someone else's server.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. The pages are copied exactly as they are into new documents — text stays selectable, images keep their resolution. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not while it is locked. A password-protected PDF has to be unlocked first, in the app that can open it, before it can be split here. This is a limitation of the encryption, not the tool.
What if I split into many files at once?
When you split every page, your browser downloads them together and may ask permission to save multiple files. That is normal — allow it and each page arrives as its own PDF.
